So I just recently saw the movie, The Lovely Bones, and I can honestly say that I didn't like it what-so-ever. I first saw the previews when it was in theaters and I honestly said that I never wanted to see it. But unfortunately, I did watch it.
The whole movie was crazy and at some parts, confusing. I didn't understand the whole thing with where Suzie was the whole time. Was she in Heaven? Purgatory? Or a special Heaven with only the little girls the pedo killed in it? Very confusing and at some parts, very cheesy and stupid. Why did they have to make the mom leave if she just came back in the end? But I do have to admit, it had it's really good parts. Like the part where the dad was going to beat the pedo with the baseball bat but got his butt kicked, that was a cool scene, but admittedly, a little over the top.
The other scene I loved was when the sister went into the pedo's house and got the book, that whole scene kept me on my toes and was VERY tedious, but I'm glad she got away. The last good scene was in the beginning when he first killed Suzie down in the hole, that was also a very tedious scene. But that guy is a total creeper, how he spends all that time to make these contraptions to lure little children in. It's a very sad movie, no doubt.
But the worst part about the movie was the ending. There was no revenge! I mean, yeah, he did end up dying in a cool way, but other than that, it was really upsetting how they never caught him or the dad never got to kick his butt. I wanted the sister to come home with the book and show the dad and the dad immediately runs over there and they get into a giant fistfight where the dad starts to get his butt kicked but then grabs one of those sticks from the little hut he was building and starts beating him upside the head with it. That would be great. That would've been an awesome ending.
Other than that, it was an OK movie. You might wanna go see it if you don't mind crazy, weird, and confusing movies. |
